Napa Valley Wine Train whisks guests to a bygone era. The hectic, hustle bustle world melts away and allows for relaxation, intimate conversations, and unexpected delights.
Enjoy your leisurely lunch, when the sun is bright and high in the sky and soak in the splendor of the valley during your 3 hour journey from Napa to St. Helena and back.
Heading North, first seating guests begin their journey in the dining car, enjoying their fresh Sonoma greens or soup du jour and choice of entrée followed by dessert with complimentary coffee or tea in one of the lounge cars on the return trip.
Second-seating guests will sample appetizers and beverages in one of our lounge cars en route to St. Helena, and a choice of soup or salad, entrée, and dessert on the way back to the station. Guests are encouraged to explore the Train and visit the kitchen cars and see their chefs in action.
Discover wildest Africa in the heart of wine country! At Safari West, every day means adventure as we journey out in search of herds of wildebeest, romping rhinos and towering giraffes. From ring-tailed lemurs to the dazzling zebra, nearly 900 animals from over 90 unique species roam through our 400-acre preserve.
On the safari walk, saunter through the Amani Oasis Aviary where demoiselle cranes preen along the path and scarlet ibis soar overhead. Come face-to-face with a black-and-white colobus monkey, search out a cleverly camouflaged cheetah and watch the courtly parade of flamingos around their lagoon home.
From cheetahs to lemurs, giraffes to wildebeest, there’s always something amazing waiting just around the bend. Alongside one of our highly-trained safari guides in their custom vehicle, head out on a 3-hour excursion to get up close and personal with nearly a thousand animals. With over ninety species making their homes here, Safari West truly is Sonoma county’s very own slice of the Serengeti.
Before you settle into an evening in your luxury tent, join us for a meal at the Savannah Café. You’re sharing an experience inspired by the legendary South African Braai (pronounced “bry,” in case you were wondering). While braai can be described as a close cousin of our own American barbecue tradition. A mainstay of South African tradition, the braai has expanded to become part of the cultural life of many neighboring nations and now we’re pleased to offer our Sonoma County take on this storied tradition!

Our custom-designed platform tents begin with legendary safari canvas imported directly from the safari camping experts in Lobatswe, Botswana. From there we add all the classic comforts and handcrafted touches you’ve come to expect from Safari West. Each of our tents is built from the ground up to bring you as close as possible to the wilderness of Safari West while keeping you surrounded by luxury and comfort. And, yes each includes a private viewing deck and an en-suite bathroom
